Sciencemakers

welcome to us! We love science and have so much fun on the job and that we of course share. Here is information about all our projects.

About us

We are two high school teachers in Gullmarsgymnasiet in Lysekil on the Swedish west coast. We teach biology, physics, we have, mathematics and programming and have over 40 years of teaching experience.

We think that science is among the best there is and the passion to increase interest in science and technology in young people. We have since spring 2016 pushed a s.c.. science club where young people are working on various projects in their spare time.

In addition to our daily work, we have also worked to build scientific equipment to demonstrate that it does not always have to be expensive or complicated. In addition, we have also organized training for teachers of different science themes.

Dynamene

We are building an exaggeration - a marine instruments used for identifying water masses movements and conditions of the sea. It operates with streams just below the water. Periodically the sign its position and water.

Our goal with this project is to produce an educational resource teachers can use with their students. It will be BOMs, building manual and program that you can download for free from here.

Follow us on the blog to keep up with the latest news about the project!

This project is funded by the Sea- and Water Authority through sakanslag 1:11 in the context of the announcement of the Marine Education.

Project

It will shortly information about the different projects we have worked over the years. Among other things, our fine turbiditetsmätare that is used to measure the turbidity of a liquid.

Four turbidity ready to be used in various experiments.

Rover and AUVer

We started our science club in February 2016 then we had received funds to build two underwater vehicles, ROVer. These come from OpenROV and came as kits that required a lot of knowledge about everything from soldering and electronics to mechanics, pressure and water seal.

One of our rover tested in the House of the Sea aquarium.

Altogether, we have built three rover successfully and we have learned a lot in this.

We then discovered AUVer, was perhaps not surprising. An AUV is an automatic (preprogrammed) undervattensfarkost (Autonomous Underwater Vehicle). In collaboration with Inspiria and Innovatum we could let a group of young people from Gullmarsgymnasiet and Fredrikstad in Norway to build working models of real AUVer used by researchers around the world.

After the processor and the servo motor for dykfunktionen installed software must be uploaded and checked.

Build and program

When you come to our science club, you do not have a lot of knowledge. We learn together and explore and develop as. Among other things, we learned the basics of programming by Arduino Starter Kit. These starter kit, we have combined with simple motor cards and components to build small robotic vehicles.

We think it is fantastic to be able to program and control the physical objects and tiny robot cars are prime examples of this.

Science club

Every Thursday evening gathering students after school and work on various projects.

Students have built many fun things such as ROVs, AUV, one “escape room”-game, a soft drink dispenser mm mm.
